Foothills Chorale Announces Winner of Worldwide Competition
Lyndell Leatherman to Receive Grand Prize
Clemson, SC, August 29, 2011:
Foothills Chorale, as part of its year-long celebration of its 20th anniversary, is pleased to announce the winner of its recent worldwide choral composition competition. Mr. Lyndell Leatherman, of Kansas City, Missouri, has qualified to receive the Chorale’s cash award of $1000 for his choral composition, “We Are the Music Makers.”
“What a thrill to learn my piece has been deemed worthy of the top prize by the Chorale’s esteemed panel of judges,” Mr. Leatherman said when learning of the news of his accomplishment. “Thank you, Foothills Chorale and patrons of the arts in the Clemson community, for sponsoring and supporting this competition.”
“Mr. Leatherman’s victory was hard won,” said Chorale president Cecil Rigby. “We had dozens of entries from all over the world, including from composers in 20 of our U.S. states, and the judging criteria were stringent. We’re very pleased that Mr. Leatherman has won and that he plans to be in attendance when we sing his award-winning music as part of our spring concert.”
CONGRATULATIONS, LYNDELL!
